My name is Shreya Aghi, and I am a 9th grader in San Francisco. I'm developing Eco Recipes, a mobile app that promotes sustainable eating by helping users find and prepare low-carbon footprint recipes. For the Code to Nature challenge, I will be submitting a prototype of the app on Figma. Eco Recipes offers eco-friendly recipes filtered by meal type, dietary preference, and sustainable ingredients. The app provides tips on sourcing local and seasonal ingredients, helping users reduce their carbon footprint. It also includes features for meal planning to promote healthy eating and reduce food waste. Eco Recipes educates users about the environmental impact of their food choices, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable living. By making sustainable food choices easy, Eco Recipes aims to inspire users to support a healthier planet and a sustainable future.

Save the Ocean

This project is about protecting the ocean and keeping it from being polluted. We won't be able to have clean water if we don't do something about it. So always reuse, reduce, and recycle!

Motivated by the concerning statistic that over 100,000 marine animals die each year due to plastic pollution, I developed OceanWatch, an Object Detection AI using the YOLOv8 model and a public dataset from Kaggle. OceanWatch is designed to detect pollution in aquatic environments, sending alerts and footage to a designated phone number for quick identification of the pollution source. To make the solution portable and capable of real-time detection, I’m using Raspberry Pi hardware and a Raspberry Pi camera. With this innovative approach, I aim to contribute to the protection of marine life and the preservation of our oceans.

This project is about recycling of water bottles. 35 billion empty water bottles are thrown away in the US each year, with only 12% being recycled. So therefore it is important to keep recycling
The Reef Rescuers

Coral Reefs are one of the greatest biologically built structures on earth. But they are now in danger due to many factors. One of the important factors causing the Reefs great harm is bottom sea trawling. Bottom sea trawlers come with heavy nets that scrape through the ocean bed and do three main harmful things: 1. They break the coral reefs which is home to so many marine creatures. 2. Bottom sea trawling causes overfishing. 3. The trawlers destroy limestone on the ocean floor and this release a lot of CO2 into the waters, making them warmer. This results in Coral bleaching. I built the game Reef Rescuers to make kids of my age and a lot of others aware of the harmful effects of Bottom Sea Trawling and to stop it. Reef Rescuers is built in Roblox and is live on Roblox. This is my second game in the series. My idea is to let everyone learn about harmful effects on Bottom Sea Trawling and motivate them to take action, yet in a fun way. Hope you enjoy the game.

Stop littering!
Checkout this project at scratch.mit.edu
My project is about not littering, because one piece of trash that is dropped can make a big, and bad effect on our planet. in my game, you have to pick up the trash that the girl drops. Then you have to throw it away. You should always throw away trash, and if you don't see a trash bin, hold onto it until you find one and recycle things that can be used again, for example donating old clothes, or throwing away a empty wrapper. I hope you learn more about littering in my project.
